Hi ! it's been weeks since I've haven't connected to the Internet through my PC. but my wifi is working fine, in fact I am using wifi to connect to this site. but when it comes to wired network it can't connect. it all started when my ISP change my modem because of an upgrade. after that I can't connect to the internet. do I need to set up anything ? I have tried renewing my IP using this command on cmd ipconfig /release and after that ipconfig /renew. I have even tried reinstalling windows 8. any help ??

sorry if there are mistakes I am using voice recognition on my cell phone.

Solution
Unplug the modem and router from power. Unplug the coax cable from the modem (if you have one). Let everything sit for 2 minutes.
Plug the power and coax (if you have one) back into the modem. Wait 2 minutes.
Plug power back into the router. Wait 2 minutes.
You should get internet when you plug the ethernet cable from the router in to your computer. If you don't then you may need to reset your router to factory and start from scratch.
