Hi all,
my Asus GTX 770 on idle is between 36-40 degrees (ambient room temp is around 31 celsius now on summer) degrees while most sites say that 29 celsius is the nominal temp of idle load.
My case is a midi one and i have noticed that the card has around 8 cms distance from the bottom of the tower (maybe not enough air get sucked in?). In between is a souncard. I have 2 120mms on the side , one 120mm on the front and one 80mm as exhaust. Is it possible to see that almost 8-9 degrees change if i change to a more spacey tower or is something wrong with my card. By the way on idle the fans of the card run about 1300 rpm i think which is 40%.

Yeah being that close to everything and no good airflow around it could easily be the cause of the problem. It's not a big problem though those temps aren't bad unless when under load it is getting real hot. Most cards can handle up to 80 C under load. I would run a benchmark and watch the temps and see what it is under load and then decide.

Under full load the gpu goes 81 max for instance in bf3.
Then it throttles down to maintain this temp. I have never surpassed 81 degrees which is normal i guess. However, the time needed to get there is related to the idle temps and the airflow that is why i am asking. I guess i will remove the soundcard to another pci slot and try to see if anything blocks the front intake fan ot improve flow.

That could help and the exhaust being near gpu to exhaust the hot air from it quickly so it's not raising the ambient temp of the case. If that helps some but and you see a change but not as much as you are looking for you have found the culprit I would say and will know where to go from there.
