Hey guys I've decided to get a new processor and I was thinking the AMD FX-8320 because it's cheaper than the i5 4670 or 4690 and the base clock speed is slightly higher. But this is my first time using AMD so what is a good motherboard for it? And is it as simple as using intel. I currently have a gtx 770 and 8gb ram. Will this be okay? If not let me know what to do. .

You need to be more careful with AMD processors. They put the pin on the CPU not on the board. But installing the cooler is easier on AMD, in my opinion.
What's your budget for the motherboard?
Will you overclock it?

The ASUS M5A97 R2.0 for non overclocking. a Gigabyte UD3 or ASrock 990fx for overclocking. cant honestly recommend the M5A99FX pro im using right now for my FX 8320 (ASUS board), socket gets too hot.

the FX 8320 is a wonderful chip, i have mine tweaked to perfection right now. Idles at 1800 Mhz, jumps to 3.9 ghz under some stress and under heavy load they bump up to 4.1 ghz. Never had a single problem gaming, and ive noticed less problems on my rig than my good buddy's (i have FX 8320 + HD 7870, he has i5 4570 + GTX 770), granted we play different games.

Do you have a decent cooler? The M5A97 r2.0 (not the LE version) usually goes for 80-90$. Use the extra cash to buy a Hyper 212 EVO cooler. even if you dont overclock the cooler is much much better than the stock and is silent compared

Depends on the resolution.
Maybe not on ultra. Expect about medium to high settings on future games (like farcry 4, gta v, etc)
For current games, (like fc3, bf4, ac4) you can run on ultra but without anti aliasing
