hey guys, i have a small question about my ram, since i know almost nothing about ram.

when i build my system i pulled some parts out of my factory made HP pc, the ram from that pc (that i use now) looks to me pretty werid.
it's 6GB DDR3 running at 1400MHz.

my pc is running fine except for these thing:
on start-up my pc takes a long time before it speeds up, i can for example click to open a browser window directly after it starts and it won't do a thing for a minute or so.
is this just because i have too much programs having to start up in the background? (photostream, steam, and some asus stuff from my mobo)
or is it my ram?

also, when i have a game open in the background and i'm on skype and steam is open, browsing goes slow and it takes long to open a window.

is it my ram or something else maybe?
it is driving my absolutely crazy.

here is some spare info:
Internet speed: down 120MB/s + and up 12MB/s

specs:
Asus sabertooth Z77
i5-2320 OC @ 3,7 GHz
EVGA GTX 660 Ti SC 2GB
6GB weird brand ram @ 1400MHz
corsair CX600
1 TB HDD and a 2TB HDD

That is single ram stick or multiple?
If it's single 1400 MHz than it's really weird :). You should consider to get some classic ram like 2 x 4GB ram kit for total 8GB.

If those are multiple sticks like 2 + 4 GB or 3x 2GB it's ok but that frequency is still weird. Try to download and use application CPU-Z. Install it, run and in tab SPD you should be able to see all your RAM sticks including manufacturer, their speed and speed profiles. If you can post that information here please.

Also if you have general problem if memory usage check how much you have free at moment you notice slow down.

i already did that, something called svchost.exe is using the most, after that come all the programs i use all the time: skype, chrome, razer synapse.
it's using 54% atm, but when i have everything open at the point where it starts to lag it's using round 80 ~ 85%,
so, do i have too little ram for what i want to do, or is something else causing the lag?

nope, it's 1, 2GB and 1, 4GB stick,
here is the exact info about them (provided by 3DMark benchmark)
2.048 MB Micron Technology DDR3 @ 667 MHz
4.096 MB Hyundai Electronics DDR3 @ 667 MHz
(Bios say's they are running at 1400MHz)

i'm seeing if using all my daily programs are a really big lag problem, it's not much, maybe a second or so, but the time after the start-up when i can actually use my pc is the most annoying thing, will that be fixed with the ram i'm planning to buy?
