I am running WIn XP and a trying to un-mount an ISO file to a USB drive - I do not want the USB drive to be a boot drive.

I have tried to use Rufus but it simply re-formats the USB drive; I have tried to download 7-zip but each time I try to tun it , AVG says its infected.

Can someone advise me further?
Thanks very much

Oh ! it is simpler than you think. What you have is an image of a CD. so to read a virtual cd, you need a virtual CD drive ( some kind of cd drive emulator). i personally use Daemon tool lite. it is free, it can mount virtual CD and even create an iso file out of a real CD.

choose the download free version. be careful when installing. sometime it will says : By clicking accept, you agree to download ( some bloatware).

So read carefully when installing to not get nay new toolbar on your internet and then your iso file will become usable.

no, I have an ISO file, forget windows. And I need to open the file to get the contents out or un-mount it, at least everyone calls it that.it
Some people create ISO files to make it complicated to use them and for mirror images for backup.

In my case, the software I need is sent to me as an ISO file (Or compressed) and I tried two different programs to un-mount these files.

Does this explain it any better?
Thanks very much
