My build is:

Motherboard: z77x ud3h
Psu: Corsair builder 650w bronze+
Cpu: i5-3570k
gpu: radeon r9 270x

It runs fine right now but i was thinking of upgrading with another r9 270x with crossfire and adding 4 more case fans and a new cpu cooler so i can OC and a new ssd. Will my power supply be good enough to handle this or will i need to upgrade?

More about : psu good

Yes it's more than enough power for your specs.

If you want to add another card you will need 700-750w.

I know it is enough now becuase i have had this build for almost a year, but do you mean i need to upgrade my psu to crossfire? also does OC affect it?

Yes you should , it's not enough power and it's a poor quality supply.

Well, looks like we have two xperts saying differents things about the same topic :??: .
Try to use this calculator and check the recommended power output for a crossfire and OC build so you have an idea of what you already have or are going to get.

id say its not enough. sure, it may be able to power 270x's in crossfire, but itd be running near full load. its already a bad quality unit, so running it at full load for any amount of time can damage the psu and your other components. id reccomend atleast a 750W, (850W for future upgrades) solid quality unit from seasonic, xfx, corsair, or antec. use this list to help you choose. you'll want a psu in the 1st and 2nd tiers.

either way i will have to replace my psu so do you think it would be ok to continue using the psu i have now then upgrade in the future when it dies?

the risk of doing that is when your psu dies, it can take your other components with it. it can fry both your 270x's, your motherboard, anything. id say its too big of a risk. i suggest getting a better psu now and waiting on the crossfire

corsair is good, but their inexpensive series psus are made with low quality, thats why they are inexpensive. take a look at this list:

https://community.newegg.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware...

the psu is tier 3, which isnt reccomended to buy unless you have an extreme budget without high end components. try to get a psu from tier 1, 2a, or 2b

i think i still might go with the corsair cx series becasue it has a 3 year warrenty and im probably going to be looking at a new system in 3 years anyway
