Hi,
I'm sure this question was asked, but I can't find the answer...
I'm using my MacBook Pro for After Effects but it's pretty slow when it comes to RAM preview, Ray tracing, and Trapcode Particular.
Thinking of buying a pc for AE (gonna keep editing on my FCPX!). I wanted to know what components are in use when using AE and what specs to look at when choosing said components (for instance: "Look for a good CPU with high cache capacity", just an example)

Thanks a lot.

http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2012/05/gpu-cuda-opengl-features-in-after-effects-cs6.html Gpu is used for 3d ray tracing, Dast Draft and Hardware BlitPipe. Everything else is cpu. There isn't a specific spec to look for. You need to know what is better performance and ae prefers intel cpus. http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2013/-35-Adobe-After-Effects-CS6,3170.html Workstation cards will handle opengl better while ray tracing is cuda so is faster on geforce.

If you fill this out we could suggest some components.
