what if i defragmented the ssd and the damage is done.

Defragmenting won't damage your SSD, it will merely move the files around. It's really meant as a tool to keep up the performance of mechanical hard drives. SSDs have other tools like TRIM and wear levelling to keep their performance up.

The whole purpose of defragmenting your hard drive is to keep it's performance up by limiting how much the actuator arm needs to move to read/write files. If you are working on a document and save, the data is written to your hard drive, if the space the original file was saved is too small for the new file then part of the file is written to another part of the hard drive, this is called fragmenting. Defragmenting brings all the parts of that file back together into the same place.

my computer's performance is bad now due to the defragmentation of the ssd. so how do i restore its performance ?
i thought of formating it but i wanned to make sure if there is another way

What damage was done? Could you be more specific? What problems are you experiencing? Slow boot, BSOD, ssd not recognized, or something else?

What is the brand and model of your ssd and your motherboard?

If you want to make the ssd like new again, then perform a secure erase. It will erase everything and make the ssd like new. After the secure erase you can install the operating system. There is no need or requirement to format the ssd. It will be taken care of automatically when installing Microsoft Windows. Don't forget to install the latest system BIOS, chipset, and driver updates. Once you are satisfied that everything is okay go ahead and install your software applications, utilities, and games.

im having slow boot and the games(ie: battlefield) take longer than usual to start up. and im experiencing slow shut down
