I recently built a computer, and when I plugged my headphones into the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the front IO panel, the sound continues to play through my speakers. Is this a problem with the motherboard or the case?

My computer:
CPU: FX-6300
Motherboard: Biostar TA970
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2x2)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM
GPU: EVGA 750 2GB FTW ACX
CASE: Enermax ECA3253-BW ATX Mid Tower
PSU: Corsair 500W Semi-modular power supply

What can I do to fix this? Thank you in advance for your help.

I've tried to do that before, and it says that the headphones aren't plugged in, even when they are in fact plugged in.

I have the HD audio plugged into the motherboard. Should I instead plug in the one that says AC 97?

no HD audio should be correct. sorry not much help. Try another pair of headphones to see if they work in the jack. Not saying the headphones are broken, but sometimes some work, others don't, in my experience.

That didn't work either. Thanks for trying though!

the only other thing I could recommend over this forum, it to plug into your green audio output that you have your speakers hooked up to.
