Hi people,

I have just bought myself an upgrade to my original set in which I bought myself a new motherboard and cpu my previous build was pre-overclocked by a shop so when I bought myself a new motherboard my RAM automatically set its self back to 1600mhz even tho I have 2x Patriot Red Viper 8gb 2133mhz stick I tried simply changing the frequency from "Auto" to "2133mhz" and it wasnt having it lol. Is there other motherboard settings I need to apply for my RAM to run at 2133mhz any help would be much appreciated.

My new motherboard is "MSI Z97 GAMING 5" and new Processor is "i7 4790k" hope that helps.

Also anyone with that motherboard cpu combo setup know any safe overclock settings I could apply myself without altering the voltages or any other safe way I can overclock simple way if possible?

Thanks for you help people :)

EDIT** I have tried enabling XMP and now it runs at 2133mhz automatically but the ratio of the CPU has increased to x44 rather than x40 I believe because of intel turbo clock in which I am getting temps of 78c under Prime 95 torture test well that's as far as I let it go after about 2 mins surely this cant be right I am using a Coolermaster V8 GTS on the CPU stock settings.

EDIT 2** I turned off Intel turbo core and its back down to x40 running no hotter than 60c phew! take it I need a better cooler if I want to overclock?

Solution
What's the idle at and what's it hit under normal load.....81 isn't bad under Prime, many hit mid 90's. I've got the GTS V* with my CPU (4770K) at 4.7 it idles about 38 and normal heavy load is in the mid 70s
