Hi. I'm considering this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131851 along with this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146075&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

The motherboard has a USB 3.0 header but the case only has USB 2.0 front panel ports. I don't really care about USB 3.0 at the front of the case, so can I just plug the USB 2.0 from the case to the USB 3.0 header on the motherboard and get USB 2.0 speeds? Or are there adapters that need to be purchased. Thanks.

Solution
The two cables are not directly compatible. However, the motherboard has USB 2.0 headers on the mobo, so use those. Or get a drive-bay thingie with USB 3.0 ports and attach it to the 3.0 headers - I have a USB 3.0 external drive and the speed difference is pretty significant.

If I get a USB 3.0 PCI card like this, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker%C2%AE-Uspeed-Express-Connector-another/dp/B007SJGGAE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1408103135&sr=8-5&keywords=usb+3.0+pci, will the front panel USB 3.0s work or will it just be the 2 ports on the PCI card that will work?

However your motherboard will have 2-3 usb 2.0 headers on it and you can plug your front ports into that.

Yes, if you get that usb card you can then plug your usb 3,0 front headers into that. I used a card similar to utilize the 3.0 front ports on a fractal design r4 case
