I have my 2 4-pin 140mm Cougar fan plugged into chassis 3 and chassis 4 plug-ins.. both are 4 pin connectors. im getting an rpm reading but the Asus Thermal Radar is not picking them up. So i cannot control the fan speeds or set them to run a certain temps...

All of my other fans are being picked up and i am able to control them... These 2 140mm Cougar fans are side mounted to cool Two MSI 290x cards. So i need them to be running full blast.

Please Help Me!

ive gone into the BIOS and tried to control them there but for some strange reason when i try to my computer freezes. very strange.. :( .. these were almost 20$ each. i would be really sad if i could use them to their full potential.

If you want them running full blast, just skip the fan controller and plug them directly into your PSU.

Well I don't know what adapters you are talking about, but yea typically they come with some method of plugging directly into your PSU. Without a fan control they should run at their rated speed.

Try them, they usually don't include 5v or 7v molex adapters.

The fans are probably the Cougar CF-V14HP 140mm COUGAR CF-V14HP Vortex Hydro-Dynamic-Bearing and those show adapters in the product picture.

its an adapter that plugs into the 4 prong plugs coming from the PSU. the thing that kindof weirds me out is that there are only 2 wires leading back to the fan plug from the adapter. meaning it will only utilize 2 of the 4 male prongs coming from the fan plug.
( i really hope you know what i mean haha. sortof hard to describe without knowing the real names of each item.)

I expect you only need 2 prongs because it's a positive and negative to create an electrical circuit. You need more for the fan controllers.

Keep in mind these fans draw very little power...

yeah that's exactly what they are. red and black cables. they seem to be running at full speed so i guess mission accomplished..?

I still have no idea why i couldn't control these cougars through the MOBO software like i can all of the other 4 prong fans in my case...

Without pictures or more information I couldn't say. I think quite a few motherboards only support 4 fans, and beyond 4 you need an external, manually controlled fan controller.

Sounds like you are in good shape if you want the the fans running at full speed, so I wouldn't worry about it.
