First of all, hello everybody! This is my first post in this community :)

I bought a laptop a few month ago which has the following specifications:

Lenove g500
Intel i7-3612qm quad-core 2.1 ghz
4 gb RAM 1600mhz
Radeon HD8750M 2GB DDR3
HDD 1 TB, 5400 rpm

I am planning to play games like Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag, AC5 Unity, GTA5 and so on...

Do you think that I will see any improvements in the performance if i upgrade to 8 gb ram?

I played recently Watch Dogs on medium settings and the memory usage was like 3.4 gb, as seen in task manager.

Solution

make sure its 204 pin ram, also yes 2x4gb of ram is called dual channel and is great for games like watch dogs, also if you can afford it try to get a better gpu for that but from what its sounds like right now your playing at pretty good settings.

It would but only with a couple of FPS :/
Though i do recommend getting 6GB of RAM because most of the newest games require you to have at least 6GB of RAM, but that is your choice :)

Yes get more ram, most likely they have 1 4gb stick in your comptuer so it is not running to its max potential. Ram is designed to work in pairs so 1 4GB stick is 10-15 percent slower then 2x2gb sticks.

You can get 1 more 4gb stick and match the timings (or better yet the brand and model).

Thanks guys for all the answers! I guess I will upgrade my RAM.

I am thinking of buying 2x4gb. Do you guys recommend any brand or it doesn't matter? They will definitely need to have 1600 mhz.

I would like to get a cheap alternative and would not like to spend more than 60 dollars. Will this be possible?
