I have several questions:
- I looked at my gpu and it's using a 2 pin connector to the fan. If I buy a 3 pin fan, is it okay to use the 3 -> 2 pin adapter.
- How do I remove my fan from my GPU?
- My fan is screwed on pretty tight to my heatsink. Any tips here?

OK your best bet is to get a hold of Asus for a factory replacement fan. you most likely will not be able to find a fan that will work properly for that GPU. to remove the fan you will have to remove the whole heatsink as the screws I believe are under the heat sink. I may be mistaken on this and they may be under the stickers on the outer ring. If they are you should be able to find them by running a flat head screw driver arond the out side pushing down. this will poke a hole in the sticker where the screws would be.

get a asus replacement fan for it to save a ton of issues.

Do you know how I can get the factory replacement? I bought my computer from a friend a few years ago and I don't think we have proof of ownership or warranty. Will Asus let me buy it from them?

proof of ownership is unnecessary when buying a fan for a GPU. Contact Asus support and ask them if they still have any in stock. they can help point you to what you will need to do. Other option is buying a whole new cooler for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
