Okay guys, this might be a silly question... Do I really need a 600W power for GTX770?? My new PC will be use for gaming, but Nvidia said 700 series require 600W. I saw some guys said it doesn't need 600W actually. So is it true?? 'Cause I really don't want pay a lot for 80+Gold power with 600W... And if it is 600W, will it really use 600W if I only do simple task, I mean if I am doing some simple tasks, would it really use the number of your power??

Solution
The PSU wattage given by Nvidia is based on the assumption that you will pick up a junk power supply. If you have a good quality power supply, typically 500-550w is enough for the gtx 770. It also depends on your CPU.

Gold rated is not needed, bronze rated is fine most of the time. The major difference between bronze and gold is that gold will save you a bit more money on your power bill.

For good quality power supplies stick to Seasonic, XFX, Antec HCG series, Corsair AX/HX/TX series (no CX/CS/VS/RM Series).

High-end single-GPU setups use up to about 300W for the GPU and 150W for the rest of the system, meaning that a high-quality PSU rated for 450-500W continuous output would be enough for almost everyone except multi-GPU enthusiasts.

A decent 600W PSU is vastly sufficient for any more normal build.

Uhh, what?? U mean... get Bronze?

basically, if your system uses, say 390W, you want more than just a 400W PSU, just to give you a cushion for things like capacitor aging
