So I have a budget of about 1,200 dollars and am not willing to go more than 1,300. I picked out some parts but this being my first real build, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestion of substitutes to either lower the price or improve performance. The build's main purpose is gaming. I want to be able to run current games at 1080p while getting a consistent 60fps. Any suggestions will be really helpful!

What I am thinking about getting:

Rosewill THOR V2 Gaming ATX FUll Tower
Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache HDD
MSI Gaming N760 4GB GTX 760
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850w PSU
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (2x4GB)
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87
Intel Core i5-4690k Quad Core 3.5GHz

Solution
You have not specified if you need Windows. If you don't already have a full version of Windows, then substitute the CPU for an i5-4690k and add Windows 8.1 64-bit.

the 760 will not be capable of running all games 1080p at 60fps unless your reduce the graphics quality.

I would suggest getting a cheaper mobo, 8GB ram and cheaper psu, then putting another $150+ to a R9-290.

Then you'll be able to run all current AAA games on ultra, 60fps.

Wait wait wait wait what? I have an R9 270 and I can run games on highest @ 1080p and my GPU is weaker than the 760

What case? if you're talking about the one I chose, I CHOSE a water cooler.

The Rosewill THOR V2 is made for watercooling, hence the massive compartment at the top

The r9 270/gtx 760 can't run all games 1080p @60fps. Doesn't mean it can't run highest 1080p.

It'll suffer in more games that will need stronger gpus for 60fps@1080p.

Here's a build to consider. You still got 100$ if you want to push it to the 1300$ area. Otherwise if you want to sacrifice anywhere, you can get a gtx 770 2gb and get a different case. The PSU is overkill, but it's a good unit. Minimum I'd go down to is an XFX 550w bronze for this system. If you need to lower the price on for the psu, you can do that and move the money to other parts.

Otherwise with your budget, this will work fine.

OK. What do you think about the build I selected?

You could get better cooling perhaps. 16 GB RAM would also be good.

Everything is good apart from the GPU, would be better if it was more powerful like a 280x

An air cooler would be more than sufficient for his build, the Noctua nh-d14 is pne of the best air coolers on the market for air cooling.

You'd imagine if he got a K processor he'd want to overclock, so cooling is needed. Although I do agree 16GB is slightly overkill considering most games don't even go over 8

The siedon is actually slightly worse than the 212 evo, it's louder and less efficient. Not to mention if it leaks you're screwed

Solution

Sacrifices have to be made for 16 GB of RAM and other stuff.
