Hey everyone, i screwed up, i cheaped out on a power supply.

Here is the build:

CPU: AMD A10 6800k
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870
MBoard: ASUS A78M-A
Power: Alpine 600w gold psu

All parts will be here 2morrow,but i can't afford to upgrade the power supply for a month.
I won't be overclocking either the CPU or GPU.
Will this even last a few weeks?

Here's a link to it: http://www.dabs.ie/products/best-value-600w-ps05-alpine-gold-fan-psu-sli---4-x-sata-7JTP.html

Also the motherboard has "over-current protection".

Thanks for reply's!

It's a junk power supply but since you know that and are going to replace it I would say it would be fine for very short term use especially as the HD 7870 is a very low power card.

I hear ya, that video gives the impression that all cheap PSU's blow within seconds of installation.
I'm going to gamble, if it lasts 4 weeks great, if it doesn't i'll put it down to experience.

@ USAFRet

Swear to god i'll upgrade it, i've no choice really.

Thanks again everyone who replied.

I would have said an emphatic no if you had listed a high end build. An HD 7870 pulls a maximum of a little less than 150 watts or 12.5 amps. With such low power needs I think you will be fine. You would not be stressing the unit at all.

That's exactly what i was thinking, i don't think the total power draw from the components will exceed 350 watts.
The gamble is just on how sh*t the build quality actually is.
I'll let you 2morrow how it all goes.

Cheers
