I keep reading that if I follow those instructions to uninstall the catalyst that is will uninstall my chipset drivers as well, I have a AMD 8350 and a AMD R280x. I have 13.12 drivers and would like to update to the 14.4

But I'm afraid of the threads I've read that say if you follow those instructions you will uninstall all your drivers for all AMD products, so if I have a CPU and GPU from AMD those drivers will be gone.

How does that work?

I have Windows 8.1 (updated) ...

I want to update but I know I need to uninstall the old catalyst before.

thoughts/opinions?

Catalyst (CCC) is separate from your drivers. It has come up that sometimes there have been problems installing drivers due to a corrupted CCC. In those cases, it was recommended to uninstall CCC and just install driver updates manually. Then uninstall old drivers.

This quite often worked OK.

@i7Baby

So you are saying that I should just follow the AMD's instructions to uninstall the catalyst and install the 14.4 catalyst on restart like it says to do and using the express uninstall (as they recommend) wont effect my CPU drivers?

Even if you did uninstall your chip set drivers, Windows would recognize it was missing the chip set driver and reinstall it with no issues.
