Trying to figure out if my xfx ts 550w power supply can handle a r9 280x, my original plan was to get the r9 270x then the prices went down even more so I said I'll just get the 280, but now the prices have gone down even more and I also have about $280 to spend so the 280x is within my budget, so I'm trying to figure out if the power supply with handle it. I need an amd card so no nvidia suggestions or any other cards.

Yes the XFX 550w can power a 280x , no problem.

A Radeon R9-290 NEEDS 31 amps on the 12v rail and a 550 watt power supply.

The XFX 550W has 44 - 45 amps and the right PCIE connections your all set.

Your PSU should handle an R9-280x just fine.
