Model is Asus u45jc-a1.

I3-M370 Processor with 2.40 ghz

4gb ram with 3.79gb useable

Windows 7 and 64 bit.

Looking to upgrade to 8gb ram on this little laptop. Checked online and it seems i have to get two 4gb sticks. Default it has two 2gb sticks preinstalled for 4gb total. However, I'm not very sure which 8gb is compatible with my laptop while checking amazon.

Will either of them work? One's a 1066mt/s other is 1600mt/s. Im not sure what that means. I believe the default preinstalled one is 1066mt/s or 1333, not very sure. Also first one seem to mention Pin Mac. Does that mean it doesn't work as well on windows as a mac? Was going to order the 2nd one as I thought 1600mt/s is probably bit faster than 1066mt/s but I"m not sure if its compatible.

Your laptop seems to have only 1066MT/s.. Mixing RAM speed, however, is a slightly different matter. In theory, if you mix two RAM sticks with different speed, your motherboard would probably just automatically underclock the faster one, and you wouldn't run into any problems. Thus, it's possible, but note that when you start mixing speeds, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so to speak. Your RAM will only run at the speed of the slowest SO-DIMM, unless you wanted to overclock the others. So, mixing 1066 and 1600 will make your system to use 1066 MT/s only from both the sticks.. Also, your laptop seems to support only upto 4 GB of RAM as per the official website

Hi are you sure about that?

Someone on a forum posted
that laptop has 2 ram slots and supports up to 8gb max of dd3 204pin memory.

the maximum frequency it supports is 1333 mhz

those are nice ram sticks but if you can find cheaper 1333mhz ones it can save you some money. if not those will work just fine. you computer will just downclock the frequencies to 1333. In real life it doesnt matter. you wont notice the difference between 1600mhz and 1333 or any frequency for that matter. the differences are only seen in benchmarks. the most important thing about ram is how much you have (i.e 4gb vs 8 gb)

Hey! yeah, I didn't check newegg.com & memory stock.com, sorry for that.. Both say it supports up to 8 GB of RAM! You can go for it.. And of course yes, there is not much difference between 1333 and 1600 MHz, what I said is it'll just under clock the faster stick to the slower one's speed.. You'll only notice difference between those speds in a benchmark that too with same amount of memory on both the sticks, otherwise NO.. :D
