My mouse won't install, keeps getting malfunctioning error.

Uninstall any software that came with the mouse .

then head to device manager and uninstall the mouse device

Reboot

reconnect the mouse

If windows doesnt find the mouse and install software then most likely your mouse is dead .
see if it will respond to a small sliver of cheese
