Reusing Windows 8 Dreamspark Key

I got free Windows 8 a little while ago from DreamSpark through my university and used it on my current laptop. I'm planning on building a PC soon and was wondering if I'd be able to use the same key to install a fresh copy of Windows 8? I've been reading conflicting things. Thanks.

Edit: I've read that the key is tied to the motherboard, or that you can only have/use it on one computer at a time?

The purchased keys for windows 8 are for use with 1 system. So if you install it on to another machine you would need to remove it from your laptop beforehand. You can't use the key in both systems at the same time.

(Dreamspark keys are similar to purchased keys OEM/Retail etc)
