So over the last few weeks I've been noticing the temperature on my gpu has been rising bit by bit. For instance a few weeks ago the max temp it would hit while playing LoL was 76C, now it hits 81C. Final Fantasy XIV was hitting 90C and now it's up to 95C. No settings changed.

Not sure if it's dying and I should just replace/upgrade it or not. If that's the case I wouldn't begin to know what to look for in upgrading like what would work in my current setup.

I'm really not that savvy with pc hardware so any help would be appreciated.

Well since it is the summer it could be due to the weather being hot. What temperature is your room generally at?

The room that it is in is usually around 75F/24C. Typically on the cooler side at the times I've been playing the games though.

Then the fan on your gpu could be malfunctioning

That is kind of what I was thinking. So then could someone help me pick out a new gpu? If so what would you need to know about my pc in order to find out what would work with the rest of my system?

The only main thing we need to know is your power supply, is it 400 watt, 500 watt etc. If your case is a Mini ITX some GPUs might not fit in.

The computer itself is an Alienware Aurora-R3 I got about 3 years ago. The power supply is 875W. The motherboard is a Alienware 046MHW, not sure if that matters or not. I'm currently running 2 Radeon HD 6870 in CrossfireX.

you're seeing a 5 degreeC increase over what you usually get? It honestly could be as simple as the ambient temperature going up and/or your fan being dirty. I would do a through cleaning of your pc and see if that improves temps. May not be a need to upgrade if you are satisfied with performance.

That's the other thing I was kind of thinking. I try to clean it out frequently, opening it up and blowing some air through. I haven't pulled the gpu out and given it a good cleaning though because I'm afraid I'll mess it up.

I'm just going to upgrade the gpu. Anyone have a suggestion on what I should get?
