Hey I was going to install an OEM version of windows 7, and I wanted to know what would happen if my hard drive were to get wiped. OEM os' s are bound to the motherboard, but the data and functionality is on the hard drive. Would I need spacial service to unbind my os from my motherboard in order to reinstall?

Solution
When you install windows with a key Microsoft is given information about your system motherboard etc when you first activate windows. If you go and install windows onto another HDD in that system it will send that information when you activate and microsoft will verify that you are using the same motherboard for that activated key and allow you to active using your key. If you try installing that key onto a system with a different motherboard it won't activate and they will ask you to call them.
