Dust filter damage from water?

Hi, I recently cleaned the front dust filter by running tap water over it and leaving it to dry for about 12 hours. I noticed that the mesh on the filters no longer have a flat surface. You can see in the picture that the mesh does not look flat and even.

The case i'm using is a Corsair Obsidian 750D. I've been looking at photos and videos of the front filter and they all seem to have an even and flat surface. Is it possible that the water damaged the filter? Is there anyone who has an Obsidian 750D case and has cleaned the front filter before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like a plastic/nylon/etc type filter, so unless you've used boiling water and actually melted it, there should be no damage.
