my 3 years old 6870 is dying. So can't decide which one should I get yet.
I want it to be double my 6870's performance.
I'd love to try go with Nvidia again but that 2gb is holding me back.
My goal is to play Skyrim with all hd mods + ENB.

Actually Im currently using only one monitor.
but as a lots of people told me that putting a lot of mods requires >3 vram. So, im not sure which one suits me the best.

(XFX) R9 270X Double Dissipation Edition ~ $260
(MSI) R9 270X GAMING 4G ~ $270
(ASUS) R9 280 DirectCUII TOP ~ $300
NVIDIA GTX 760 2gb ~ $260, $300

the R9 280x seems to be a little outside my budget range though.

yeah he @pit_1209 is right!! people become loosers once they start to own AMD!!! go type any recent games in google will display too many amd card complaints over the game....(watchdogs, NFS Rivals, Any Ubisoft Games...Project Cars) also know the fact that all these games are tied up with nvidia...pure Buisnss!!! If you are an end user you dont have to see on how hardware does theoritically....but how it supports us!!!it does nothing i have R9 270x cant play ny games at decent rates...i uninstalled watch dogs...:( ( not all games..) please doooooooo take this note!!!! R9 280 is good on budget range

I'm upgrading my Sapphire HD 7870 to either the MSI or Sapphire R9 280, I've done a lot of research and the 280 takes the cake. Don't listen to them. Crysis even runs better on AMD. Tomb Raider runs and looks better with AMD. Dirt 3 runs better with AMD. Dragon Age runs better with AMD. And anything Nvidia can do, AMD can do it as well. Don't let these guys basing their information off of Ubisoft's broken console port games draw you away from AMD cards. I love Nvidia, but when it comes to bang for your buck, AMD is on top.

The R9 270 (MSI 2GB) is a perfectly good card, I used it in my first build, with the wrong CPU due to lack of knowledge (X4 750k). It performed like a champ considering. Playing Sniper elite 3 on custom high/ultra settings getting a comfortable 60FPS at 1080p. 30-40FPS on ultra only. It may struggle in some games (I only had SE3) but its a solid card. Would recommend the 280 as a safer long term bet. Next time around ill be using FX 6300 CPU
