What GTX to get

I was debating whether to buy a GTX 780 or two GTX 770 in SLI
Ultimately i want to run 3 monitors (1920*1080). I won't be playing the high end games like BF4 and stuff, but games more like football manager, dayZ.

because you want 3 monitors to game on, you would really want 4gb vram, so i would get a 290/X/, as they are faster than the 780 when overclocked, cheaper, and have more vram. the only drawback is that they will run hotter and louder.

I'd go 770 SLI, because with 3 monitors a single 780 might not be as good

I don't think 2x4gb version will be needed unless he goes to a higher resolution in the near future, 2 x 2gb versions should be enough to run your games as more vram is only needed if your resolution is too demanding, like 4k, or 1440p

you do know that the vram does not add when in sli/crossfire, right? 2 4gb cards is still only 4gb usable vram.

Just tested with gtx 780 3GB watch dogs max settings 1440p and 1080p vram usage differerence was 1% with those resolutions.

the vram usage on watch dogs 1080p max settings is about 3.6gb vram, or thats what numerous tests have shown.

i know it is not GTX but If you can afford dual custom cooled R9 290 4GB's that would be best, on par with 780 and price tag close to 770, the best option of the lot for triple 1080p screens.

did you just say that 2 R9 290's have the same performance of a single 780? not true at all, infact, at stock speeds they are about the same, and when you overclock both of them, the 290 is much faster.

to test games, you just play them with different settings and record your fps.

Ti is not worth it for the price tag, compared to a 780 only a few fps more in games, but can cost up to a $200 difference in price.

Dual Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 4GB's for your setup is my vote.
