Hi, I've been playing Dota2 for months in my house until this bad series of "pings" came and I suddenly could not play anymore. In those good times, the ping was only like 100-130ms but now it amounts to 250-350ms. We all know that lower ping gives us an edge in gaming.

I found some solution to these problem. One is resetting your modem. The only downside to this is that it takes 5 min to reset my modem and every time my modem grabs a bad IP I have to restart it, which takes considerable amount of time. Second is going Ethernet. Instead of the route (Modem ➔Router➔Computer) I skipped the Router. This gives me the option of doing the cmd command "ipconfig/release" and "ipconfig/renew". The problem is I can't go ethernet all the time because there are several laptop users here they need to use wireless connection.

I have done ipconfig/release command with my router on but it seems the wan IP does not seem to get restarted. So my question is, can I reset my wan IP with my router on other than the above stated options? I really want to play without having a BAD IP. Thanks!

first of all lts say you are conected via wifi worst case scenario.
to improve your ping do not download!!!
close skype and any voice or video aplication.
try to be only you conected to the wify.
if there is a mobile phone conected to the wifi or any second device there will be colisions.so you will have higher ping.
the ip is a addrress like lets say where do you live? castro street 15 if this was "wrong" no letters whould be able to reach you. you whould have no internet conection.
tell every one to get off the network and try again and do not download you should have improved ping by now.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. My connection is ethernet but passes through a router. I'm confident also to say that the high ping here is not caused by the internet users here because the ping does not fluctuate. It is just caused by an IP Address with a bad connection to the Dota2 server. (SEA Server)
