Hi,
I have a i7-2600 that only supports PCIE2.0, I have 2 x Sapphire R9 290 cards crossfired. Would it make any changed to overall FPS etc if they were supported by PCIE3.0 ?

Thanks

Mobo manufacturers can implement PLX switches which gives more lanes (the mechanics of which I'm not too sure on though) and would allow tri/quad Crossfire/SLI on a mainstream Intel board (Intel X79 and AMD platforms have 16x each lane).

For instance this board.

Cpu only has 16 lanes so if you're running 4 cards you can't avoid it my point is for enthusiasts that insist on running four cards it helps them
