Solved

I would like your opinion on this build. Will the components work together and will this rig play recent games with high fps?

hi there, as my title says i would just like peoples opinion on this build. if it works and how well would it work with current games.
i have a 23" 1080 monitor to play on.

Cpu - Amd fx6300
Mobo - Asus M5a97 le r2.0
Ram - GSkill F3 1600mhz (2*4GB)
Gpu - Powercolor R9270x (most competitive price)
Psu - Thermaltake Toughpower Gold 80 Plus 750W

that is pretty much what im looking at
in South Africa prices are quite high so this is basically the highest i will go in terms of cost
Looking for a mid range gaming pc that plays games well, hopefully at 1080 with high settings if not ultra

thanks for the help

More about opinion build components work rig play recent games high fps
  1. Everything is ok except the motherboard imo
  2. this will play most games at 1080p on high settings pretty good, well balanced build, but can you get a better psu, one from tier 2b or higher? http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

The psu he chose is tier 2 class a
  4. my bad, i was looking at less than 600 watts >.<
  5. No problem :)

HaywireC what other motherboards are available in your price range?
  6. Yeah I have to agree with LucoTF going to one with the newest chip set will benefit you a lot. Like he said you should be good to go on high in 1080. I would go one step up on video card after the mobo upgrade if it's in budget also but that can always come at a later date if it's needed.
  7. MSI 990FXA-GD65 V2 AMD 990FX+SB950 Socket AM3+ ATX Desktop Motherboard

Could that be an alternative motherboard?
  8. yes, infact, it is much better.

    Yeah that's definitely better
  10. Ok perfect. Thanks a lot for the input. That msi board is only R80 more so if its that much better its definitely worth going with it. Is my psu not overkill? Or is it bettet to get a bigger psu for future proofing the pc? Incase of upgrades.

Yeah it's definitely overkill for your current rig, but I don't know what's available in your country. You could look for a good 550w that's on the list danbuscus posted...
  12. defiantly get the better mobo, and that psu is just fine, but you can save a little money on a lower wattage, like 550w
  13. Yeah that MSI board is a lot better you'll be much happier with it and that psu is plenty a good 550 would cover you no problems. Like you said though is future proof especially if you're thinking you may go with a high end card or crossfire in the fututre.
  14. sorry guys. ive been researching about the psu and mobo. App the msi boards arent great compared 990 counterparts???
And will this psu work? Seasonic M12II-520 EVO Bronze 520Watts 80 Plus Bronze
its about half the price of the 750w. thanks
  15. What about this motherboard? Asus M5A97 Evo AM3+ ATX AMD
  16. Yeah according to the link above that psu is rated pretty good. As for other motherboards I agree with HaywireC any Asus 990fx chipset mobo will be excellent. I use Asus mobos in all my personal and business builds and haven't had any issues with them in over 10 years of using them. Gigabyte is my next mobo brand I go to and then MSI. Hope this helps any more questions wwe'll do our best to help.

Yes it's all compatible, you might want to get a cooler for the CPU too so you can OC it
