I built a new PC, installed Windows 8.1 on it, and finally have all drivers, updates and programs the way I want. Whats the best way to back it all up so I can do a clean refresh when things slow down? (I'm already running ccleaner on a weekly schedule, but would like this as a backup plan).
I found this guide through google: http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/windows-81-tip-use-system-image-backup
The problem is I'm not sure Microsoft wants you to be doing it this way and people in the comments section have run into problems, such as windows 8 images not being recognised in windows 8.1.
I think the refresh option uninstalls all your programs, which would be a nightmare to go through installing and configuring again.
I've heard programs like Acronis mentioned but that costs money, I'd rather keep things free.
