Hallo everyone. I hope you all enjoy summer/holidays and if you work just be happy, I work 14hours everyday.

So I have a very nice build
In few words, 3770k 4.6ghz on h100i.
16gb g.skill tridentX and a hd 7970 reference.

I am willing to upgrade a few things like case+multibay+2 more ssd(850 pro and extreme pro)
The big deal here is my gpu and I don't know which one
R9 290x vapor x oc
Gtx 780ti cuz edition.

None of those reach 700euro cost and this is also all I can spend on gpu.

Which one of these cards will last well for 2 years to play on higher possible settings on 1080p* 60hz*

I don't care for more just for 2 years.

I have read any article/beanchmark reviews etc on the internet and 780ti ghz edition is faster than vapor x 290x BUT in most games is like 4-8fps difference.

So which one you guys vote for? Any personal experience on any of these 2?
The price difference is 110 euro

R9 290x vapor x. 560€
Gtx 780ti ghz edition 670€.

p.S I WANT TO avoid crossfire/sl i due to them issues.

Thanks you all in advance!!

Best regards Nick.

Do not waste your money, 7970 is effectively 280X (literally - they simply rebranded and downclocked it)

Difference between 280X and 290X is not enough to justify dumping so much money into it - same with 780TI - maybe it will give you 20-25% more FPS, that's it...

Just wait for the next generation GPUs and then dump your money there - they are coming very soon - half a year tops.

For 1080 gaming I believe the common consensus is that a 290x and 780 Ti are overkill. No need for that horse power till you step up the resolution of your monitor or plan on running a multi-monitor array.

Thanks for your reply.
Well I am willing to play any game on ultra or high detail for the next few years and already battlefield hardline and call of duty advanced warfare are coming out on November. I understand that not all games will be so demanding but I still want to be ok with up to 60 fps so is smooth. The hd 7970 did ok for 1 year full of gaming but It won't make it for 2 more years and since on the next 2 year's I have other priorities now is the perfect time to upgrade.

Honestly either should do 1080p easily for a couple of years. The choice is yours. The 780ti is the stronger card, but the difference is not huge at all. maybe 5-10% difference.

PS: The 7970 should be good for 1080p ultra in most games that come out. It is still a very relevant card. I am currently running a 7950+7970 in crossfire, and the issues seem non exsistent now that they have addressed the frame pacing issue.

Well my card was on 925 core 1375 mem and a faulty-unstable psu prevented me from overclocking it to reasonable 1100core-1600mem everyone could do. My psu burned my k95 keyboard leds 2 times and my h100i blue color led. Thankfully I got replacement all time for either part and it didn't affected my oc cpu and it was still stable 4.6 at 1.285v. Pretty awesome chip yes?

Does the above mentioned overcloack with the new corsair psu save my money from upgrading the gpu?

I havn't had any issues with it yet. My crossfire setup works very well for the games i play and like I said before, AMD finally got there frame pacing driver improvements out that eliminates almost all stutter. Well the games I play anyway. If you choose to crossfire, you will be well above what a r9 290x or GTX 780ti can do. The 7990 in these benchmarks would be the same as what you could expect since it is 2 x7970 on one card: http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-black-review,12.html
