I want to improve my WoW experience

Hi guys,

My specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 975, Nvidia GTX 760, ASRock 970 Extreme3, Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM, Thermaltake 600w PSU

Ok, so apparently AMD cpu's dont go well with wow. With this setup in open world I get about 15 fps average.
What do I need to do to improve this. I though about an intel setup but its too expensive.

Is it gonna help me a lot to upgrade my cpu to an AMD FX-8320?

I was just thinking, and I realize that the games I play are also cpu intensive. I might part off my pc, and buy an Intel setup, i5 configuration or something.

What are you guys thoughts about this?
Should I just go for the AMD FX-8320 or should I sell my current mobo+cpu and go for an Intel setup?

Thanks

We all would like to improve our Wow experience. Oh! You mean the game...

I'm really surprised the PhIIX4 975BE is lagging that much. The card is more than adequate, too. You should be getting much better performance than that with your rig. Have you overclocked the 975BE? My 965BE is running at 4GHZ on just the multi and a tiny vcore bump. You should be able to get more than that.

Does your system need cleaning? Run CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry portions both. https://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER

How many items are in your tray? If you have a lot of stuff running while you are gaming, that will drag down performance. They all steal clock cycles and resources.

But to answer your question, yes... the FX-8320/8350 will be a processor improvement. But not all that much for gaming.

I just reinstalled windows not too long ago, so my pc is basically empty. I wouldn't be surprised that something is blocking the games to do better, but I just ccleaned and it didn't really matter.

The cpu is not a black edition though, so I can't overclock it.

I thought this setup would be competent too, but apparently something is not working.

It shows up as a Phenom II X4 975, without the BE. I bought it off eBay a year ago when I desperately needed a replacement pc and I had to pick out some stuff on a budget. But I tried overclocking it, and I can apply the changes but once I restart the changes are gone. so I'm pretty sure this is a NON- BE edition.

I just checked the performance in WoW, and it's not any better.
Still the same fps lag I'm getting as I used to.

I have no idea why one of the best cpu's ever made does so shitty in this rig.
Is there a part on the forum where they can check the performance of my rig by checking logs?

Maybe somewhere software is bugging the performance of my pc

Told you that you had a Black Edition ;)
Not sure what your question means. What resolution is your monitor and what settings are you having to use in-game to get smooth game play? Is there any way to play WoW offline, single player-like? As you can see, I'm not familiar with the game myself being more of a FPS gamer.

My 3DMark score is 12629, which isn't great.
But I reinstalled my windows today and my games are running good again, so there was something not right.
I hope it stays this way for a while.

3DMark has 4 benchmarks: Firestrike, Skydiver, Cloud Gate, and Ice Storm. Which one is that score for?

Try to keep your system a as clean as possible. I run CCleaner about once a week, keep Microsoft Securities Essentials running for Virus, and Malwarebytes (registered) for malware. I don't have much running at the startup of Win7 and my tray just has the bare minimum in it.

I just ran Sky Diver with my Phenom II X4 @ 4.0GHZ and the R9-280 at stock. I got:
3DMark Score: 13493
Graphics Score: 21783
Physics Score: 4923

Well WoW relies heavily on CPU's single core performance and IPC. Which means if you want to improve your WoW experience you will have to switch to intel. If you've got the money for an FX8320 you'll have the money for a 4th gen i5 which will work like a charm.
