Cooling, Replacing top fan with a push/pull

Hey guys.

To get straight to the point,

I have one fan at the back which is the exhaust fan, one at the top which is exhaust also. I have an evo 212 cooling my CPU with ONE fan attached. I replaced the stock fan with a Noctua nf-12.

My mobo does not have an extra Fan header so my question is, Would it be better if I take out the top Exhaust fan, and put an extra Noctua fan on the Evo 212? Will I have better air flow with this?

I have a zalman z11 plus. So digging around I found a Y cable. One of the ends seems to be a 4 pin which is good but the other is 3. The 3 pin one doesn't seem to line up. It has 2 pin then a gap, then one pin. My top exhaust fan is a 3 pin so should I put the 3 pin in the 4 pin and the noctua 4 pin in the 3 pin? That sounds confusing, hopefully you understand
