I have recently had a bad experience with the new(ish) R9 290 and have abandoned ATI in search of greener pastures. I have been looking for cards as a replacement and I have come up with these two as possibility's.

Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II 3GB - £369.99

or

Asus GeForce GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II OC 3GB - £467.42 (It's exdisplay)

So, for £100 extra I can get the Ti OC version which I am really unsure if it's worth it. I've seen some general comparisons between the 780 and the 780 ti but not this particular model. Or perhaps I have chosen a bad choice of after market card and there are issues with this model in particular?

Any help would be great as I am new to nvidea so I am not up to speed on what's what.

Cheers!

The 780 ti is not worth the money. Price : performance kinda breaks down when you go higher end. Get the gtx 780, there isnt even a difference of 5-10 fps between the two cards and £100 is asking alot for that. So get the gtx 780, not the gtx 780ti, or as the above post mentions, you can wait for maxwell to come out however theres no telling if it will even come out in October/ November. Nvidia could change its release date anytime

Both are good. 780 Ti for higher resolutions above 1080P for sure. BUT saying that, the GTX 880 is right around the corner: October/ November time and will be 20% faster than the 780 and will deliver performance on par/better than a Ti version while costing less. Do what you want, it is just a suggestion, I would wait due to the 780 being near the end of its time. Just some advice

Thanks, I think it seems like the most logical approach, I have seen the benchmarks and it is minimal. Nearly £500 on a gfx card is a little ridiculous in retrospect. Perhaps I will get a FX-8350 and the 780 instead as I run some pretty heavy programs and also it will help to avoid any bottlenecks from the gtx 780.

Thanks for the advice
