Hello
When i start up my computer and repeatedly tap F8(on the keyboard in question) to enter the setup menu, it goes through. After the menu opens, i have zero keyboard response, but my usb gaming keypad(razer nostromo) can be used to make selections.
I have tried switching the usb plugs around to no avail. The only solution is to completely unplug the Nostromo and the keyboard will work. I would prefer not to have to disconnect any devices if i don't have to.
I will provide any specs if necessary, but it seems like i am missing something simple that can be done to fix my problem. Thanks in advance for any tips or information.

what motherboard. This is a setting in your bios, (enable usb devices on startup) or (enable usb keyboard)

It is an old HP motherboard Asus M2N68-la. Narra 2 i think.
I went into the Bios and the usb legacy was enabled. I still have to switch the keyboard around into different ports and disconnect the razer nostromo to get into the F8 menu. It seems that(looking from the back of the case) the top right usb port works in Bios, but not the startup F8 menu. I had to switch to the port beside it when i tried to reenter the menu after leaving bios(only after i disconnect the Nostromo).
It's really strange to me, but I will be upgrading ASAP(as soon as the wife permit's me :p ). I would just prefer not to have to disconnetc and reconnect the cables any time i want to access the bios and any other menus.

beside the USB legacy, there may be an option to enable usb devices on startup. Under power or Peripherals or boot menu in bios. Also, make sure PS/2 mouse is disabled.

Try adding a longer delay (via bios) from post. like 5 second, may need more time.

If not, you can try clearing your bios (via a jumper or unplugging and removing motherboard battery for 20 min). Worth a try.

I'm going to try that now. I'll be back when I'm done. Thanks for the help.

OKAY.... well, that was weird to say the least.
There is no enable usb device in power(no peripherals option either). Boot menu does not have the option. No option to set a delay.
I was able to disable PS/2 mouse.
To be able to even hit F10, my keyboard has to be plugged into the top left usb port while facing the back of the case(figured that out many restarts later). But! To be able to use the start up menu, i had to put the keyboard back into the top right usb port. Every time, to access the boot menu, top left port. To use keyboard in boot menu, top right port. WEIRD.
This is all with my Razer Nostromo unplugged and on the sidelines. I am going to try and clear the bios now. I just wanted to fill in the details before I did. I'll be back in 20.

No luck. Still the same. Not worth my time. I've become an expert at blindly switching usb ports from my chair in front. Thanks for the help delellod123. On a better note, I just got my new case and psu in so i can switch everything to that. Woohoo! Next step is new motherboard, processor, and memory. I can't wait.
But if anyone has an idea about the answer, i wouldn't mind knowing. This has me baffled.
