I just recieved a Ralink Wifi adapter in the mail today, excited that I will finally get internet on my computer, since my old adapter is broken. I turn Windows XP on, and everything is fine. However, when I insert the adapter, Windows shows me the blue screen of death for a split second before restarting itself, and that is a loop until I remove the adapter. I have no idea what is going on, because it can't be my USB ports as they're 2.0 and working fine (plugged my mouse into every port and it still worked fine) It can't be that it's not getting enough power, as I have a crappy 7 year old computer, with a 700w power supply, so I'm pretty sure it has way more than enough power to supply everything aswell as the adapter. I used a external USB to try to see if it will fix the problem but it doesn't. There is nothing wrong with my Windows, as I installed it fresh a few days ago. I tried using the driver manager to find 'Mpegport.sys' and disable it, but I can't find it. There are only 2 things starting with a 'M' on there: 'mnmdd' and 'mountmgr'. I tried to do the same on Safe Mode, but with no results. It still resets itself and I can't find Mpegport.sys although I have 'Show hidden devices' checked. Please help me. I would really like to use the internet during the summer holidays. Thank you! :D

Could just be you got a defective item. If you think it is a good choice return it for a new one. You say you had one. Did it work? Did it last a reasonable amount of time? Maybe you get the same type? Looked around and check this out (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2BM10M8548). It is on sale and has very good customer reviews. Seems it ships from Asia so takes 5-10 days to arrive.
