Hi, I just got he FX-8320 and I'm not very pleased about about it.
Task manager and CPU-z see only 4 cores! Why? Did I got scamed?
My temps are high I would say - 72C w/ stock cooler (NOT core temp) with Arctic Alumina paste after 1 minute of Prime95 and the fan was at 6600RPM!). It is very noisy. Core temp didn't pass 62C. Ambient temperature is 27C.
I played some games (GRID 2, GTA IV) and I'm pretty pleased w/ the results. Note that I'm on Win7.
So, in the end, what can I do to somehow activate the other 4 cores, and what cooler do you recommend me to buy? My budget is 40$.

Yeah... I heard of it. It doesn't have any competitors in its price range?

Its a $30 cooler that meets or excedes the $50-70 air coolers, no reason to try to go for a competitor.

My 8 core CPU is seen as a 4 core one.

That is because your 8 core cpu is a 4 core cpu.

FX series "8 core" cpus are 4 physical cores each core having 2 logical cores giving it a total of 8 logical cores (similar to hyper threading). Thus your cpu physially, is a quad core.

I managed to get 8 cores! I did some research in my motherboard's BIOS and put an option to AUTO and it worked! So, the CM Hyper 212 EVO is the way to go?
