No no, more the number of cores more easy the computation done by the CPU.. 4 cores is fairly enough for Gaming.. Here is Tom's hardware's Gaming CPU hierarchy chart.. Tom's hardware says all the CPU on the first block provide the same performance in games.. However, each CPU will differ in other computational works..

Experts say "Do you intend to oc your CPU? FX-6300 is a great choice and value for your money.
Non overclock build? Then you could buy a i5. You can find a i5-4440 Rs.12,190 right now. Its a very good choice."
but according our Indian price the AMD FX-6300 which is just around Rs. 8000 is far more less priced than the i5.. And FX-6300 + R9 270x can run Battlefield 4 in Ultra settings very smooth...
Hello, I'm from India too.. (I'm considering flipkart)
1) Get an AMD FX-8350 (12800 Rs.) and AMD R9 270x (14100 Rs.) and Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2PT Motherboard (Rs.3000) and keep the rest as same.. This combo is the next best downgrade from your system & it reduces 6000 Rs. from 60,000 Rs.
2) Going down one step again leads you to AMD FX 8320 (Rs. 10700) and AMD R9 270 (Rs. 13440) with the same motherboard.. This reduces over 9000 Rs. from that 60,000 build..
3) The CPU I suggested in the second option was with 8 core and if you're satisfied with 6-core, then go for even 2500Rs. lesser CPU the AMD FX-6300 (7590 Rs.)

They also have the chart for Gaming GPU.. Also, Tom's hardware suggests that when you plan to upgrade your CPU/GPU in future, choose a CPU/GPU that is placed three blocks above your current component to gain performance improvement, otherwise you'll see no/very less performance gains.. Hope I helped..
