Major loading times with videos on secondary 3TB hard drive

Hi there,

I thought this was a hard drive fault, so I upgraded, bu the problem persists-

I have a 3TB hard drive where I store various videos. A typical folder can have 20-30 Hour long videos in it (I film a lot, and refuse to delete old footage.)

When I right click a video file on the 3TB, the right click menu takes a very long time to appear, or the folder window crashes entirely. The loading bar that lists the file address very slowly fills green, as it normally would but over the space of a few minutes.

What could be going wrong?

Solution
Harddrive could be having issues, system might not support 3TB drives properly...

If any of those files are important, shouldn't be lost, I hope you have them backed up elsewhere. (as is always the case for important files)

Is this an internal or external drive? Which make and model#?
If internal, which motherbd do you have?

I thought it might be a hard drive issue when I had a 2TB drive, so I just replaced it. Same issue.
I have everything backed up, I'm not concerned there.
It's an internal Seagate 7200RPM 64MB Sata 3.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte USB3 X58
