Which one is faster and better?
Is it better to buy i5-4670K and overclock it to 4.2-4.5ghz (with evo 212),or to buy i7-4770?

Which one would be better and faster?
Also is it worth to go for 4770 if it cost 70$ more?

DO NOT tell me, go with 4770K,or something like that!I KNOW that overclocked i7 is better then stock i7,but I want to see difference between these two!

Thank you.

I would expect a overclocked i5 4670k (4.5 ghz+) to be just almost fast in most cases as i7 4770k Stock speeds. Conversely, overclocking i7 4770k would leave the i5 4670k in the dust. Also, in heavy multithread applications, Hyperthreading becomes evident and I7 prevails again. In gaming, there is virtually no benefit between both chips unless you are running a very high sli (2/3/4 780tis). In most cases, I7 4770k is an overkill. Also, new i5 4690K and I7 4790K overclock better costs similar to cpus mentioned.

Good comparisons:

core for core... clock for clock the two cpus are identical. there is no difference in performance at the same clock from an i5-4670 and a i7-4770... the difference is in something called hyperthreading... which is just an advanced scheduling process that allows idle core cycles to do something else. The trick is hyperthreading works with exactly 2 video games i've ever seen. It works slightly with BF4 (netting perhaps 8% advantage) and Crysis 3 (netting perhaps 10% advantage)... the list of video games that see a -2% to -5% reduction in performance with hyperthreading is too long to recount. Hyperthreading shows some advantages in zipping large files or picture/video rendering... otherwise it has very limited use for much of anything. and in those applications where hyperthreading works, the advantage is typically anywhere from 15% to 30%... generally the best case scenario is to assume 25%. Which means under ideal situations for hyperthreading a quad cored i7 will act like a 5 core cpu.

The only other advantage that i7 has is a larger l3 cache... but that has limited use for gaming or much of anything.

So your answer~ if an i5 is overclocked to 4.2ghz it will be significantly faster then a stock i7-4770 sitting at it's base 3.5ghz. So for gaming i would get the i5, and overclock the snot out of it. you'll never notice the difference.

faster/better at what? you need to be a little more specific.

the 4670k@4.3ghz is going to be faster in 1/2/3/4 thread applications and almost all games. this is purely tied to the core clock being much higher than the i7-4770(non k). if you are talking about encoding/decoding/rendering or programs that can take full advantage of 8 threads, the 4770 is going to be at least even or slightly faster. if you don't do encoding/rendering or non gaming apps, the 4770 is not going to give you much more of an advantage. not sure if your going to have a graphics card installed or not, but going with the xeon e3-1230v3 would be better than he 4770 as they are exactly the same except the xeon does not have built in graphics. personally i would go with the 4670k+evo212…. if i couldn't afford a 4770k(actually 4790k now) i would go with the xeon if i really wanted the hyper threaded cores.

Thank you,I know what hyperthreading is,and it seems that there is really no reason to buy i7 for me really. :D
I will probably go with i5-4790k,and overclock it to 4.2ghz or maybe little more.
Also do you know which motherboard is best for this CPU?(Z-97)
I want cheap one.

Thank you,but I don't won't cheapst one. I want good one that is cheap. So anything under 150$.

no no no... evga motherboards are notoriously poor quality. they might make great graphic cards... and solid psus... but stay away from their motherboards.

do not get the I7-4770! The Xeon E3-1230 is the same price as the I5 with the performance of the I7, just no iGPU.

I switched from an I5 4.4GHz to a Xeon 3.5GHz and I'm very pleased with the Xeon. It runs 10-15C cooler and only takes 45W max. Plus in recent AAA games and any apps that run > 4 threads (eg video conversion) it beats the I5 o/c. Windows 7 utilises all 8 threads well, with tasks assigned to all 8 depending on load.

With the Xeon, you can also save money on the mobo and get a B85 mobo. Put the savings to a better GPU.

Where I live I think there is no Xeon cpu's or at least not for regular sale.

I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina(Balkan).
Anyway, this is where I will able to buy:

Click on "Maticne Ploce" to look at motherboards.
100$ is about 150KM.
