No sound or microphone after installing new video card/PSU.

My old video card died recently and I purchased an EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (2 GB) along with a new 520 watt PSU and installed them both (the video card is connected to my monitor via HDMI, if that matters, but I tried unplugging the HDMI cable to no avail as well). I also uninstalled my old video card's drivers and installed the new video card's drivers from online. I had some trouble installing and had my friend help and he had me do a CMOS reset, which may be my problem because a lot of people lose sound after a CMOS reset but I can't find a solution.

Both the PSU and the video card now work perfectly, but I have no sound coming out of my speakers (Logitech Z130), nor is my headset/microphone working for voice chat (no one can hear me talking).

My computer and my voice chat program register that the speakers and the headset are plugged in and into the right jacks, but no one can hear me talking and the only sound I hear from my speakers is a high pitched static. I plugged my speakers into my laptop and they work perfectly, so I am assuming my speakers are fine.

Here is what I have tried:

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled my sound drivers. Rolled them back and forth again.
  • Gotten into the BIOS (ASUS UEFI Bios Utility for my ASUS P8H67-M PRO motherboard), gone through all of the settings and enabled anything that looks like it could be related to my audio. I also tried resetting to default to no avail.
  • Had my friend who works at Microsoft take over my computer for over an hour. He went into device manager and the Realtek audio manager and tried literally everything possible to no avail. He recommended I find a USB headset/speakers and just leave it broken, LOL.
  • Checked all of my mobo cables and as far as I can tell they are all in the right places and plugged in very securely.
  • Plugging my headset and speakers into the front analog jacks and the back and neither of them work.
  • Gone into the Sound section of Control Panel where it says my speakers/headset are plugged in, ready and on and yet they still don't work.
  • Yelled at it at the top of my lungs.
  • Whispered sweet nothings to it.
  • Sobbed next to it.
Is there anything you can think of? Googling a solution has been fruitless because it's always people with a BIOS not using the UEFI utility so the terminology is completely different or there is no solution and just people suggesting things I have already tried. Thanks so much in advance; I am at my wit's end!

Hello,

In Control Panel --> Sound --> Audio tab (or Playback tab, if Win 7 or 8) you should have SPEAKERS enabled by default; if default setting is "Digital Audio" or "Audio over HDMI", disable it and enable SPEAKERS.

Check in Computer --> Device Manager if all devices are properly installed. Sometimes when uninstalling/reinstalling the audio card Windows "forgets" to reinstall all audio devices. Try also to give Windows update a shot (uninstall all audio-related drivers, including NVidia ones and let Windows update search for drivers).

The logitech speakers are plugged into the green jack, which is where the Realtek HD Audio Manager says it should be (and also where it was plugged in before I did all this nonsense and my speakers still worked, haha). I've tried it in every other jack, though. In Device Manager, it says all my drivers are up to date and that all the devices are working properly, including my audio drivers. http://i.imgur.com/ZMBkSJR.png is a screenshot of under the Sound, Video and Game Controllers section. The two NVIDIA devices are from my new video card and are disabled (the downward arrow shows this) and the Realtek HD Audio is enabled and "working properly". Any clue by looking at the screenshot? XD

I had a similar problem with a system before. Even though my DM said that my speakers were enabled and working correctly they produced no sound. I solved it my manual installing the device driver. It happened more than once so I kept a copy of the driver on a memory card.
