Hey folks, I will be building my first PC and was wondering on some recommendations for a GPU. Was looking at a Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 but if I can get a lower card and still have all the settings cranked up with decent frame rates I will be happy. I would also kinda like to be able to handle games that will be coming in the future such as Tom Clanseys Division, ect.

Intel i5 4670
Asus micro atx gryphon z97
8gb 1600 mhz
120 ssd
1tb hdd
windows 8.1 64 bit
corsair air 540
corsair 750W 80+ gold

That's true. Its for future proofing purposes, since more and more games keep pushing cards like 270x and 760 back in the average frame department. Oh, and the benchmarks you posted are on high, NOT Ultra.

Well, all of those cards can play at 1080p on ultra above 40 FPS, especially the 270X, so I don't see the point of your post

I suggest you to bite the bullet and get 290. It is an excellent value and with custom cooler factory overclocked like 290 Tri-X it pretty much matches stock 290X while running REALLY cool (my 290X Tri-X goes like 72c at worst while gaming, it's awesome cooling).

280/270 (x or not) are actually rebranded Radeon HD 7970s and 7870s - are you sure you want to invest into 2 and half years old technology??

290s (and 260s, but you don't want these) are actually the only ones coming with updated GCN architecture, It's not amazing huge changes, but why get GCN 1.0 when you can get GCN 1.1 - more future proof imo that way.

I would say yes. Considering getting a 290 for 1080p doesn't make too much sense at the moment, paying for new tech that you don't need is dumber, than paying for old tech the greats the job done and costs less.
