hello i have nvidia gt 640 gainward 1gb gpu and its pretty fine until today when i brought dayz now i could stream minecraft and cod4 and play at the same time with no lag or problems but when i play dayz its fine but when i livestream dayZ it lags abit and i got a tool that came with my gpu called EXPERTool where can i overclock my gpu now i want to overclock i little bit i dont want to make my gpu die i want it to last long but i want to overclock it a little bit so i can stream and play dayz at the same time do you think its safe and how much should i overclock it?

Solution

1, DL RivaTuner
2, Install RT
3, Increase your clock rate by little increments until you're satisfied or the PC is unstable.

Hope I helped!

would it damage my gpu?

If you OC heavily without proper cooling, yes. If you OC in increments of 10 MHz, you'll be fine. If your system BSODs, it means that you OCed too far. Also, try playing a game after OCing.

well that gpu is pretty old but it sounds like its pretty good.

u can use msi after burner.

1. move the frequency up little by little.
2. use a gpu stress tester to see if the overclock is ok
3. if it is move it up more, if not add a LITTLE voltage(dont add like 3v because then your cpu is dead).
when it get to the highest temp allowed(example its at 57c and recommended is 60c you want to stop).
or until it wont work anymore no matter how much voltage is added that means you hit the limit and no more overclocking is allowed.

dont add to much voltage(1.4v is getting high, or if temps are over 80c is getting high and may throttle or act up)

i used expertool the original gpu tool i boosted core by 7+ the temp is 32 it seems cool :p hopefully i would be able to stream and play normally now

yeah make sure to select best answer when your done. also that was just a recommendation of a good overclocking software. 32c is good but you need to stress test to make sure it doesnt crash. Heres a good one

furmark, prime95(for cpu but you might overclock that).

that gpu is old but it seems good

theres others as well these just make sure the overclock is stable and your gpu doesnt die out.
