Thanks for visiting the post, please help!

So i've just built my second pc for which the specs can be found below. I'm having major issues, the pc itself runs fine and temps are stable, however whenever I try play a game e.g. cod4, dirt 3 my screen tears hugely not micro stutters, literally the image is ruined and I recieve awful audio noises and distortion. After then exiting/axing the game my OS often begins to also fault for example screen flickers and youtube videos pixelating and discolouring. I've tried running the pc with one card, un-installing the drivers, running with on stick of ram and at the moment i'm baffled as to what the issue could be. Both cards worked in solo prior to this build as I tried them in my old maching, I doubt this is a hardware problem. please help!

Specs:

ASrock fatal1ty 990fx killer mobo

AMD Phenom II X4 3.5 Black edition

Saphire HD6950 2GB GDDR5 Crossfire

Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHZ 8GB (4X2)

Corsair rm850w PSU Gold 80+

Samsung evo 840

Sata 500gb

Corsair h55 cpu cooler

1, Corsair PSUs have been known to fail or underperform...
2, Do you have the LATEST drivers for your GPU?
3, Did you run a malware check?
4, Are you sure the GPU isn't slightly failing?
Did you make sure the mobo is compatible with the GPU?

Thanks for the reply.

1) this is my first corsair psu so I can't comment is there anyway to check it's performance?
2) All the drivers are up to date, both cards.
3) ran an avg check and used the free doctor fix to attempt to solve any issues (however new build would this be a huge issue?)
4) I tried both cards in my old machine and they both performed fine
4) and the mobo is compatible with the gpu yes.

Yep same issue with just one card however in my old machine both cards tested in solo and worked fine.
The game can sometimes work for a minute or so and then crash after a cool boot. I'm led to believe it's a software issue it feels like a conflict of some form that is causing a crash.

Yeah, either that or you are having some issues with your PCIE lanes. Did you install the GPUs in the correct lanes for dualx16? Sounds like a dumb question, but you never know.

Also, make sure your 24-pin mobo power connector is in all the way and that all the power cables are correctly plugged in.

Like I stated, I have the EXACT same mobo with two 270x and the only problem I ever had with them was with my old case and PSU. The case did not have a side-panel fan and the PSU was not enough and they ran so hot and the PSU began to smell like smoke. A new case and 1300 watt PSU later and they run like a charm. I have not had any micro-stuttering or anything like that.

I even OC them this past weekend with the AMD Overdrive and saw significant improvements in increased fps in gaming, especially with increased anti-aliasing. I hope you get it worked out because I no longer worry about maintaining 60 fps in gaming on Ultra with ANY new title. Now, I only worry about dropping below 60 fps with 4x anti-aliasing. He he ;)

1, CF enabled in CCC?
2, Download a trial version of MBAM and scan.
