Hello there.
So, I'm building a new PC for myself and I was sure as hell I was gonna get the i5 4440 but the 3570 just had a $40 price drop on Newegg, making it $210, just $10 more than the 4440. Now, comparing the specs, the 3570 has a higher base and turbo clock, and a lower TDP. Don't tell me about the 4570, that's $220. Long story short: I'm on the fence between an i5 4440 or 3570. Any suggestions?

Rest of system:
8 GB RAM
GTX 780
Also, if I get the 3570, will it bottleneck the 780?

The 3570 is a bit better than the 4440, so I would definitely spring for that deal. As Eduello noted above, the 4670 would be a better deal.

As for bottlenecking, it varies from game to game, but for the most part the 4670 should be fine. The best i5 processor is only 3% slower than the best i7 processor for gaming. You could eke out a bit more performance by overclocking a 3570k or 4670k, but it be a couple of frames per second faster at most.

The i5-3570 is still one of the fastest gaming CPUs money can buy without overclocking so if that "bottlenecks" a 780, there is not much else you can do about it anyway.

If the slightly more up-to-date h97 platform does not tickle your fancy, the i5-3570 with a h77 is still more than good enough. Haswell is only 5-7% faster than Ivy Bridge clock-for-clock, so not much of a loss there.

Or you could just get the i5-4670 for $185: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CO8TBR4/?tag=pcpapi-20

Not that great in Canada.

Not into overclocking. I will be using stock cooler with a locked CPU so yeah.

There are still better deals in Canada: http://www.ncix.com/detail/intel-core-i5-i5-4590-haswel...

That one will beat both the i5-3570 and the 4440.

Hmm... seems great but I can't be ordering parts until next week and the 4590 sale ends today :(
If the 3570 deal also ends until then, then I'm getting the 4440 like I planned in the first place.

Here's a list of all 3th and 4th generation i5 CPUs sold in Canada, use it to find the best deal when you're ready to order: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/parts/cpu/#f=34,40,29&s=12&s...

That's exactly what I used to decide on the 4440 in the first place!
I will use it more often now, thanks for reminding.

How about the 4590S? Is it any good for gaming? It's the same price as the 3570 on Newegg.ca. Also has a max turbo frequency of 3.7 GHz and consumes even less power than the 77W 3570. TDP is important for me because I do not want to go through the hassle of installing a third-party custom cooler, and lower TDP=Less heat.

The 4590s is OK if you want to save money and have less heat.

It is basically the same thing as the 4590 but with a lower base clock.

The lower TDP comes at the expense of a stiffer thermal management profile. This means that in the end, the 4590S may not turbo-clock as high with the 4590 with stock HSF will. Ex.: the 4590S might turbo-clock barely beyond the 4590's base clock.

Well, the 4440 has a base clock of 3.1 GHz and a Turbo of 3.3 GHz and has a TDP of 84W. The 4590S seems like a good buy to me.
Thanks for the help, guys.
