Watercooling vs Air Cooling.

So I just wondered what people on here thought of Watercooling vs Air Cooling. For me it as more of a personal question as my cooler is huge and was thinking if I replaced it with a Corsair H100i for example then it gives me much more space to cool my GPU which in my PC is very important. I will upload an album showing my PC.

As you can see with my current cooler it is so large that as you can see in the image of the side panel there is no room for a fan, so I was thinking if it would be better to go with water cooling so that I can get the benefits if that and I will also be able to fit more fans on the side to cool my GPU better. Thank you.

Seems like you've got the NH-D14 in there. Investing in the H100i would be a bit of a waste to be honest given how both of them are so similar, there's not much in it.

Your case does have the clearance up top for it though if you wanted to go for it. (C70 *brofist*).
Honestly I don't think it's worth it for the minimal performance gains.
You don't need fans on the side-panel window. Infact the most common mod people do with the C70 is to replace that butt ugly window with an all clear and/or smoked one. No fan holes.

Of course more fans help, but when you consider that they won't be filtered so they're going to be letting in a ton of dust, plus, it's going to make removing that panel tricky because you'll need to unplug the...

An AIOs biggest advantage over High-end air coolers is it's size and weight, because coolers like the NH-D15 perform just as well as the best AIOs. I would suggest going with the H110 in your case, instead of the H100i which is quite loud.

Water cooling is a better way, but it's a little more dangerous if you don't know how to install it properly. If it's your first time water cooling get someone to help you with it or watch youtube tutorials make sure you do it step by step! Dont screw up. Best of luck~

you could do a water cooling loop which would allow for cooler temps and better overclocks. a h100 would allow you to better overclock and cool your cpu since water picks up heat fast. but you could get a great air cooler like the phantek or nocuta and cool just aswell as some of these AIO(all in one) watercoolers.

As for your original question though, there is a difference, but it depends on what type of liquid cooling.
AIOs (All in Ones) such as the H100i are going to give you roughly comparable performance to a high end air cooler, like your current one, with perhaps a few degrees less. The main advantage is being able to mount it out the way of anything, providing your case can accommodate it. Plus you'll have a much wider spectrum of fans to buy.
Sadly, it comes at the cost of adding more points of failure, such as the pump or any techno mumbo jumbo going on inside it (Like RGB LEDs for example).

Custom water cooling is where the real term comes from, and, it's very very expensive. Much more than a top end air cooler or AIO. In short, the pump is stronger, the radiators bigger and the fittings etc... generally made to a higher standard. Aside from liquid nitrogen, this is going to get you the coldest temps out of all three, by quite a margin.

It's up to you, but I say replace the window with a clean sheet of acrylic and rock on with that heatsink. It's a great cooler when you ignore the poop coloured fans.

I do have the Noctua, my only point was that there was not much space in which I could fit other fans, ehich is wy I thought water cooling might be a better option.

Okay then, that does seem to help a bit more, how about fitting a fan to the bottom panel? Do you reckon that would be a good idea if I wanted to cool my GPU.

Well, speaking as a guy that has stuck a fan everywhere but that bottom slot. Nope... and yes.
It's certainly an option, it just falls into the same category as the side panel fans, in that it's a really tricky spot and ends up looking ugly. I would personally find it a bit annoying to unplug power supply cables without squishing it.
Then there's the issue of finding a nearby port for its cable.

I see you're still using the stock fans that came with the case. They're a bit pants. Your best bet would be to invest in a few decent fans and put them everywhere you can. Rear one, two top (Preferably 140mm for those), replace the two on the drive cages and pop two in the front if you haven't already.
Should keep things nice and cool.

As for what fans to buy, that's entirely up to you. I like the Corsair SP120s and AF140s myself despite them not being anywhere close to the best fans on the market. They just look cool. Currently rocking 6 SP120s and 2 AF140s.
(Oh and pro-tip if you go for them, remove the front dust filter to see the colour rings from the front of the case, because of the all metal frame you'd be surprised at how little dust creeps in without that filter in place, or any glossy plastic to attract it).

Ok just to check the problem witht he C70 is though I cant seem to remove the front panel as all of the buttons are attacked to it with wires. The only toher way I see is removing HDD bays. I take it from your comment that you have a C70 as well (apologies if I am mistaken) if so how did you fit them in at the front?

One of the awesome things with the C70 is that all the front panel stuff is in its own little block. It remains exactly where it is with the panel off.
To remove the front then, you'll need to remove both side panels and push in 3 latches on each side at the front. While pushing them forward a little at the same time.
So essentially grab hold of the front of the case while both panels are removed and use your fingers to pinch each clip consecutively on both sides.

Don't forget to hold on to the front at the same time though. I can't recall the amount of times I've dropped it doing this.
To mount two extra fans you'll need to use 8 of the really long screws from the screw box that came with the case.
Oh and you don't need to remove both bays to do it either.

Okay thanks for all of the help. Given em a good idea of what to look out for now. Now to buy a huge amount fo fans.
