I think I purchased the Dell Latitude around 2000, so I'm guessing it has an IDE harddrive. I only ever used it to make designs for my embroidery machine, or to download purchased designs and send them to the embroidery machine. My concern about the SATA/IDE drives that I am reading about seems to be that they all have issues with the AC power adaptor burning up and destroying the hard drive being copied. Is there one that has a good record for the power supply?
Before I decided that it was the motherboard that died, I had purchased a new battery and new AC adapter. Could I use either of these rather than the power supply that comes with the SATA/IDE cable?
