So My GTX asus 770 took a poop and I Need a new card. The question that I have is Should I get and AMD R9 280x or the GTX 770. My CPU and mother board are both AMD so I dont know which one to get.

Is my 770 not working because everything eles is AMD or just because it died.

video cards are CPU agnostic, they don't care what brand CPU you have. Look at it this way, the vid card makers want to have the largest target audience that they can get, so they make their video cards work well with whatever the brand of CPU.
Go here:

this will show you the best bang for the buck video cards, as well as a hierarchy of relative performance of the different cards.
The two cards you listed perform about the same, so get whichever one is cheaper.

the r9 280x is as powerful as the 770 however the 770 is better to SLI if you are thinking of doing that in the future but between those if you aren't going to SLI get the cheaper one and if you have any questions just ask below! :)
