1, Do you have the latest drivers?
2, Maybe your card is faulty.

cant install the drivers because the computer does nothing when my display is plugged into the new card. using old card right now. i have both plugged in right now to see if i could install the drivers like that and nothing. my computer wont even recognize the second card.

Did you try changing mobos/CPUs or anything like that? Or, did you fry your parts because you weren't grounded?

Install the new card and then reset the CMOS. Plug the monitor into the motherboard output. The computer should start displaying to the monitor. Enter the BIOS and set the computer to display off of the nVIDIA 760 card. Save changes and reboot. During POST, press the power button (don't hold it) and the computer should turn off. Switch the monitor video cable to the card. Power the computer on. The computer should display from the card. Boot into the OS and install the card drivers and reboot. Once the system has rebooted, set the screen resolution to the max. That should be it!
